I enjoy traveling to new places and meeting people whether it be here in the US or abroad. I've been to India twice and Afghanistan twice. | |
The
first time I went to India, I went to attend my friend Anuj's wedding.
Anuj and I worked on many projects together in Grad School
at NCSU. The wedding was an amazing experience.
After the wedding, I traveled
around India and that was also amazing. On the
second
trip, my wife and I went to visit some other friends. We
really
like India. |

I went to
Afghanistan once in 2007 and again in 2010 with the Great
Game Tour Company. I'm fascinated by Afghanistan and I wanted
to see
first hand how things are in that country and what the people are like
and what the needs are.. When I got back home, I designed a
few things and handed off the ideas to some of my friends that live
and work in Afghanistan.
Idea 1: Pulleys for a Cable Car, Explanation Idea 2: Hydralic Ram Pump This pump uses the flow of the river over a small decrease in elevation to generate enough pressure to pump water up away from the river for agriculture. The hydraulic ram pump concept has been around for a long time, but I designed this one to be made from parts that are available in a rural setting in Afghanistan. The pressure reservoir is a wheel / tire with an inner tube inside. The pipe, fittings and butterfly valve can be readily procured in Afghanistan. With 30" of elevation drop, and a 60' long drive pipe, this pump easilly produced 40psi of water pressure. See video below. |

Picture 2: South end of Salang Pass Tunnel I really want to go hang gliding and/or paragliding in Afghanistan. I think Red Bull should sponsor something like the X-Alps adventure race in Afghanistan. |
