Project Management, Leadership and Technical Direction Definition
Toward the beginning of the Laparoscopic Differential Dissector (DDL) development effort, the design space was much larger and one of the concepts under consideration was a DDL with an articulating shaft that could be positioned as desired by the push of a button.  This design permutation embodied power blunt dissection, push button deployed and retracted electrosurgical cut and coagulation, irrigation and the end of the shaft could be push button, electronically articulated 135°.  This design was highly integrated, engineering intensive and required the close coordination of many teams and team members.  I've include some heavily redacted documents here as an example of the thorough documentation and definition that I use to synchronize the team's vision, expectations and efforts.  The videos below show the electronically articulated DDL operating.  Several videos on our website feature the electronically articulated DDL being used in surgeries.
